The launch of international tertiary hospital by KL Wellness City

On May 2, 2024, Southeast Asia’s inaugural purpose-built township, KL Wellness City (KLWC), announced plans to establish its flagship tertiary hospital through KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd (KLIH). The initial phase of KLIH is expected to reach a development value of RM1 billion, aiming for completion in the second quarter of 2026 and opening in the subsequent quarter. Presently, substructure works are finished, and the main building’s construction is underway.

KLIH is designed as a 624-bed tertiary hospital, expandable to 1,000 beds, equipped with advanced facilities to deliver a comprehensive healthcare service ecosystem complementing KLWC’s wellness concept.

During the event, Health Minister YB Datuk Seri Dr. Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad expressed congratulations to KLIH for the launch. He commended the investment in information and communications technology (ICT) and medical innovation, including robotics, aligning with the government’s vision for Malaysia to become a leading medical and healthcare hub.

Additionally, Dzulkefly expressed gratitude for KLIH’s RM2 million pledge to support medical treatment for the B40 community. This contribution enhances efforts to provide accessible healthcare to underprivileged communities, fostering health equity in Malaysia.

KLIH’s pledge of RM2 million supports the healthcare needs of Malaysia’s B40 community, aligning with their mission to promote wellness and inclusivity. This pledge coincides with the recent launch of the Health Equity For Affordable and Rapid Treatment (HEART) program, reinforcing the Ministry of Health’s commitment to accessible healthcare through public-private partnerships.

Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee, Managing Director of KL Wellness City Sdn Bhd, emphasized that the launch of KLIH within KL Wellness City signifies a commitment to elevate healthcare standards and redefine medical excellence in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Strategically situated in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, KLIH will feature 22 operating theaters, including provisions for robotic surgery and hybrid operating theaters. With a wide array of medical services, including intricate surgeries and secondary care, the hospital aims to attract top-tier specialists and leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to reduce patient wait times. Moreover, its pursuit of Green Building Index certification underscores its dedication to sustainable development alongside its global healthcare services.
