The FOX licensed entertainment-filled attractions had definitely made its mark on every visitors who step foot in Genting Skyworld, where each ride had sent the park visitors on a thrilling journey. Should the park be fully launched with 24 attractions, it will definitely be on par with other world-class theme parks. Some of the most anticipated rides like Mad Ramp Peak, Invasion of Planets of the Apes, and Samba Gliders are undergoing a testing phase and are currently unavailable for the time being.
Each of the facilities, rides, and shows in Genting Skyworlds are presented in full English content, which created a premium feel that compares to Universal Studios or even Disneyland because of its visually-technological savvy attractions. Instagrammers would definitely find themselves capturing a months worth of content due to its limitless amount of aesthetic photography spots.
Genting Skyworlds is among the first theme park in Malaysia that developed a digital application for Android and Apple users to navigate through the amusement park. The availability of the application definitely benefits visitors in many ways. The most interesting feature on the app is the Photo+ service, where visitors will be able to capture instagrammable moments with the help of on-site professional photographers who are always on the scene to take pictures of you. With state-of-the-art facial recognition technology, the unlimited photographs taken are instantly synced to your app and are easily accessed with a push of a button without any extra charges. The app also features a virtual map with details of each ride such as availability, requirements and the estimated waiting time.
You will not want to miss out on the Virtual Queue System where visitors can make queue reservations for rides instead of dreadfully waiting for their turn. Purchasing e-tickets through the app is something many would highly recommend; aside from it saving a tonne of time on the queuing and buying process, your e-ticket will be kept safe and sound in your phone.
Another notable thing to mention is that the theme park is staffed with friendly and professional Tour Ambassadors who will help you better understand the details and the story behind each facility. The Tour Ambassadors shared insightful information and trivia that made the tour all the more exciting.
Due to the ongoing spread of the Covid-19 virus, Genting Skyworlds has set a limit on the number of visitors at a time. On top of that, they have taken further safety measures by providing sufficient hand sanitizers for the public. To ensure that everyone complies with the SOPs enforced by Genting Skyworld, SOP protocol officers are scattered throughout the location as they remain vigilant and keep the visitors safe. The entire park is frequently sanitized to ensure the safety of the visitors. With the strict SOPs at hand, it is important to note that only vaccinated individuals with low-risk statuses are allowed to visit the theme park. Unvaccinated children aged 12 and below must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult.
Prior to entering the park, it is recommended to create your own itinerary list on your Genting Skyworld app to collect reward points for worthy redemptions, be it on a shopping spree or a gastronomic adventure above the clouds. Each themed world has its own specialty store where you could pick up knick-knacks and souvenirs. Don’t miss out the opportunity to obtain the famous Skytub Combo which is priced at RM35 as your to go meal at the theme park. Moreover, eateries such as the Classic Burger and Golden Gate Garage, offer visitors reasonably priced delectable dishes that are to die for; visitors can expect to spend an average of RM 22 per person. The app also indicates halal certified restaurants so Muslim visitors can have peace of mind as they dine.
There are few to no downsides for the Genting Skyworlds theme park. If there was anything to comment on, it would be the operating hours. Time flies when you’re having fun and it is unfortunate that the park halts operations at 5 p.m. and closes at 6 p.m., given that the park opens at 11 a.m. Planning your day ahead with an itinerary before jumping onto random rides would allow for you to try all that the theme park has to offer. Accessibility through the carpark is also a notable matter. Although the Resort World parking area is located right next to the theme park, visitors are still required to walk in through the main entrance of First World Hotel, which deem as a problem for those with disabilities. On the plus side, the maximum charges for the parking at First World Hotel is only RM12 per day.
Apart from that, there aren’t any meet and greet sessions with character impersonators, which you would think is filled within a place that has secured licensing deals from FOX. The only interaction with the character impersonators will only be set after their live performances.
To sum it up, a well-planned itinerary and research about the park beforehand would definitely get your money’s worth at Genting Skyworld. Here are some of the best rides that we are sure you will enjoy – Independence Day: Defiance; Night at the Museum: Midnight Mayhem; Terraform Tower Challenge; Epic Voyage to Moonhaven; and Sid’s Playhouse Ice Age: Time Warp. With that said, we’ll leave it to you to decide if it is worth its hype. Do take note that ticket prices are charged at RM 151 for adults and RM 128 for senior citizens, OKU, and children under 110cm.
