The grand opening of WANG DIM SUM at SUNWAY Wangsawalk Mall.
WANG DIM SUM has officially opened its doors at SUNWAY Wangsawalk Mall, signaling a new milestone for Malaysia’s halal dining and lifestyle scene. The opening drew close to 80 guests who gathered for a curated dim sum brunch and the unveiling of a vibrant wall art installation by local artist Lowkey, reflecting the brand’s emphasis on culture, creativity, and community.
The ceremony began with a doa recited by Ustaz Fahmi Bazlan bin Muda, seeking blessings for the restaurant’s journey and long-term success. This was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by a distinguished group of guests, including Alden Lee, Director of DSF Culture; Puan Sri Nisa Bakri, Culinary Director of WANG DIM SUM; Adrian Thean, Director of RWC Holdings; Haji Sharin Low, former Chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association; and Peter Siow, Leasing Manager of SUNWAY Wangsawalk Mall.

The event concluded on an energetic note with a muhibbah drum performance by 1Drum, symbolizing unity and cultural harmony—values that sit at the heart of the WANG DIM SUM brand.
Now open to the public, WANG DIM SUM is welcoming diners with an opening promotion of 20 percent off all menu items. The outlet operates daily from 10 am to 10 pm, offering a concept that blends the ambience of a traditional Hong Kong dim sum house with the nostalgic charm of old Malaya. The menu features familiar dim sum favorites alongside local adaptations tailored specifically to Malaysian tastes.
The brand’s philosophy is clearly expressed through a message featured prominently on its walls: “At Wang, we celebrate the spirit of community by sharing meals that bring together cultures and generations, united by a shared passion for good food and great company.”

All dim sum served at the restaurant is produced using ingredients supplied by its own halal-certified factory, which also manufactures premium products for established HORECA partners nationwide. Looking ahead, Culinary Director Puan Sri Nisa Bakri is set to introduce new signature dishes in the coming weeks to further strengthen the brand’s culinary positioning.
The opening also marked a personal milestone for Puan Sri Nisa, who was recognized with two appointments during the ceremony: Advisor to the Halal Economic Council (Majlis Ekonomi Halal, MeH) and Ambassador for Gastronomic Halal Malaysia. These appointments underscore her influence in shaping Malaysia’s halal food ecosystem.
Sharing the brand’s broader vision, Alden Lee, Director of DSF Culture, said, “Our hope is to make dim sum a truly universal experience for all Malaysians, served with heart, quality, and cultural inclusivity.”
WANG DIM SUM is operated by DSF Culture, a subsidiary of Dhimsum Food Sdn Bhd, one of Malaysia’s trusted halal-certified dim sum manufacturers and suppliers. With its debut at SUNWAY Wangsawalk Mall, the brand positions itself not just as a dining destination but as a platform for cultural connection and shared Malaysian experiences.
