A Growing Ecosystem for Future Leaders
Since Malaysia first joined the competition in 2018 with only 200 students, participation has scaled dramatically. This 10th edition drew over 1,900 students from 43 higher education institutions nationwide.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and CEO of Multimedia University (MMU), emphasized the broader impact of the program. “Through this competition, we are nurturing skilled professionals and visionary leaders who will drive Malaysia’s digital transformation and make talent our strongest national asset,” he said. He added, “This competition is more than an academic contest, it is a platform that identifies, trains, and elevates the next generation of Malaysian innovators.”
Mr. Oliver Liu, Vice-Chancellor of the Huawei ASEAN Academy, noted that Huawei plans to expand its network of academies to support Malaysia’s goal of becoming the ASEAN Digital Capital. “The Huawei ICT Academy is a platform that nurtures both students and educators, providing them with the opportunity to gain practical applications in cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and data analysis. The Huawei ICT Competition complements this by giving students a platform to compete and display their ICT skills and ideas, while promoting healthy competition and knowledge sharing,” he said.
Recognizing Institutional and Educator Excellence
The ceremony, co-organized by MMU and Huawei Malaysia, also honored institutions and individuals who have significantly contributed to the digital education ecosystem:
-
