FINAS HOSTS ‘MALAYSIAN FILM FESTIVAL’ AFTER MULTIPLE DELAYS

In a media conference held on 1 December, it was announced that The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) will be organizing the 31st Malaysian Film Festival (FFM31) on 10 December with adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOP) and guidelines set by the government.

Zakaria Abdul Hamid, Chairman for Finas, stated that the original timeline for the 31st Malaysian Film Festival (FFM31) was postponed several times due to the possibility of a COVID-19 outbreak, should it be held at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

He added that in conjunction with FFM31, selected program screenings and film appreciations will be included as part of the event.  It was also revealed that the winner of the ‘ Best Film category’ will be awarded a trophy and Digital Content Fund amounting to RM500,000.

Also present at the event were Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Finas chief executive officer Prof Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim, as well as the Malaysian Entertainment Journalists’ and Writers’ Association (WHAM) president Datuk Tengku Khalidah Tengku Bidin.
