National Consumer Action Council (MTPN) Selangor recently held the launch and awards ceremony of their first-ever Consumer’s Choice Award (CCA) MTPN Selangor with YB Dato’ Rosol Wahid, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) officiating the event. Amongst the VIPs accompanying the Deputy Minister were Dato’ Paduka Dr Kevy Yeo, President of MTPN; Dato’ Dr Gavin Voon, Chairman of MTPN Selangor; Inspector Supt Md Noor Aehawan Mohammad, Deputy Chief of Police HQ; Eddy Soo, CCA Organizing Chairman of MTPN Selangor; Dr Goh Cheng Soon, Director of Traditional & Complementary Medicine Division – Ministry of Health; Ali bin Suhaili, Director of Dept of Information, Selangor; and Darren Soo, Deputy Chairman of MTPN Selangor. The CCA MTPN Selangor was established to help consumers recognize outstanding companies and businesses that are not involved in fraudulent activities.
YB Dato’ Rosol Bin Wahid, Deputy Minister of KPDNHEP, said, “I congratulate MTPN Selangor for organizing the Consumer’s Choice Award 2020-2021. This program is important for consumers to evaluate companies or businesses that sell “genuine” products. With the CCA MTPN Selangor, consumers will open their eyes to this NGO that protects the rights of consumers. We at the Ministry very much welcome, MTPN Selangor’s initiative to educate and protect the rights of consumers. KPDNHEP is open to working closely with MTPN Selangor to ensure that all the winners of this award are the best and not involved in fraudulent activities.”
The CCA MTPN Selangor Award is a unique recognition, different from many other award programs as it defends consumer rights and promotes good relations with KPDNHEP Selangor and also the Tribunal For Consumer Claims (TTPM). Through its rigorous and thorough research, only 42 out of 192 nominees met the criteria to attain this award. The winners of the MTPN Selangor CCA 2020-2021 consist of B2B and B2C businesses involved in the Beauty, Education, Manufacturing, Pharmacy, Law, and F&B industries, amongst others. A large number of them are also franchise businesses operating throughout Malaysia.
Dato’ Dr. Gavin Voon Shih Chin, Chairman of MTPN Selangor, said, “The close relationship with KPDNHEP led to the Director of KPDNHEP Selangor, YBrs. Tuan Muhamad Zikril agreeing to be an Honorary Adviser to MTPN Selangor. With this, MTPN Selangor and KPDNHEP Negeri Selangor collaborated to create a “Zero Complaint” certification for the first time ever, certifying that the business is not involved in fraudulent activities.”
