With a capital expenditure of RM825 million, Celcom will be deploying 250 new network sites while optimizing the 8,000 sites all across Malaysia. This initiative from Celcom has an aim to fulfill the demand of many Malaysians to have a consistent network experience. For the nationwide 4G LTE pop (point of pressure) coverage, an improvement of up to 94% was recorded and up to 9 states had recorded a 98% pop coverage or higher.
In the third quarter of the year, massive growth of performance was recorded for YTD21as it is only made possible with the continuous investment from Celcom Axiata Berhad. With Celcom’s consistent growth momentum, Celcom recorded a 1.2% improvement for the growing revenue of Q-o-Q (+4.6% YTD) with the net additions of 157k subscribers for Q-o-Q in the 3Q21.
With the ARPU (average revenue per unit) of RM30 for the prepaid plan, an increase of +14.4% Y-o-Y subscriber growth was recorded by Celcom and an ARPU of RM82 postpaid plan has increased +6.7% Y-o-Y in subscriber growth.
EBITDA and PATAMI also showed promising results of RM240 mil (+7.3%) and RM33 mil (+6.9%) respectively.
Datuk Idham Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad said, “We are modernizing our network with the latest network technology, including 8T8R RAN technology, that will significantly improve mobile capacity and user experience. Our network improvements also include the cessation of 3G services which will enable us to allocate more network and spectrum resources to 4G LTE, making our network ready for 5G.”
As he added, “With an encouraging subscriber growth, including user growth from MVNOs, Celcom’s cost-saving initiatives do not affect or burden our customers, but enable us to offer more innovative products and services at affordable prices, especially in the Enterprise market,” Idham said.
Recently, Infront Consulting Group (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Bridgenet Solutions Sdn. Bhd. was acquired by Celcom to strengthen cloud services, managed networks, cybersecurity solutions, networking solutions, and managed services.
With the speedy reaction to support the current flooding situation, Celcom allocated RM 2 Million to aid the affected victims while Celcom’s network team will be on high alert to attend to any disruption caused by the flooding. Celcom will also join forces with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), the GLC Disaster Response Network (GDRN), the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), and other NGOs and agencies, to help out the affected communities.
