Tuan Syed Mahadzir, CEO of Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn. Bhd at The Brand Laureate SMEs Best Brands Awards 2022.

For the first time in 16 years since it was established, The BrandLaureate SMEs BestBrands Awards were taken by surprise when the lights went out during the annual gala dinner at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on 1 June 2022.

What was expected to be a prestigious event turned into a series of unfortunate events when the power outage occurred, resulting in the attendees, recipients, and VVIPs being ushered out of the award show hall.

TNB called for generator support at  The Brand Laureate SMEs Best Brands Awards.

Attendees were seen lounging and mingling outside of the hall, as they awaited further instructions from the organizer who reassured them that the power will be restored momentarily. Several hours passed, and guests were becoming impatient; Brandlaureate turned to TnB to supply generators to keep the show going. However, after multiple tries, Dr. KK Johan, World President of The Brandlaureate was forced to pull the plug for the night.

Dr. KK Johan along with the General Manager of Majestic Hotel did their best in being proactive and expressed their regret to their attendees, especially those who flew in from outside the country solely for the prestigious award show.

Quickly releasing a statement on the same night, Brandlaureate stated their apologies for the inconvenience caused and announced that The BrandLaureate SMEs BestBrands Awards will be postponed to 2 June  2022.
