BIGO HOSTS ANNUAL AWARDS GALA VIRTUALLY, AND RECOGNIZES 78 BROADCASTERS ACROSS 150 COUNTRIES AND REGIONS

Live streaming platform- BIGO, will be hosting its s second annual BIGO Awards Gala on January 21, at 8 p.m. to celebrate the resilience of its broadcasting community throughout the year. The event is to take place on Bigo Live’s Music Livehouse channel (Bigo ID: music) where broadcasters will be awarded and recognized. BIGO plans to kick off the virtual event this year in a creative way, by having Bigo Live’s virtual mascot, DINO to give the opening remarks and get the party started.

“Despite the pandemic, Bigo Live users have proven that you don’t have to be together physically to form meaningful connections. We’re so proud of how our users have supported each other during such a challenging year and are excited to celebrate the impact they’ve made in connecting the world through live streaming,” said BIGO Technology’s spokesperson.

BIGO will be awarding and highlighting the successes of 78 broadcasters from 150 countries across 4 categories this year at the annual gala. The four categories are- Top Regional Broadcaster, Top Regional Family, Top Global Broadcaster, and Top Global Family. The event will also feature performances by the broadcasters themselves; look out for fire dances, DJ sets, K-pop dances, and Urdu songs. With more than 400 million global users, these performances are intended to reflect the diverse and global audiences who utilize Bigo Live every day. Each winner will receive a medal and gift box for their achievement, as well as in-app rewards. They will also be featured on a variety of billboards, which are located in landmarks in 23 countries worldwide.

Malaysia’s top Bigo live broadcaster with over 140,000 fans, Joanne Tan (Bigo ID: Joannebaby), was announced as the winner of Bigo Live’s top Malaysia Broadcaster. She shared her thoughts and expressed herself by saying, “When Malaysia went into the first Movement Control Order (MCO) in March last year, there was so much uncertainty as to how life was going to be, but I am glad to have found Bigo Live to keep myself entertained. It has been an incredible journey since then and it is amazing how Bigo Live has been constantly engaging with its broadcasters and providing the community with a wide range of activities to keep entertained during the MCO. I am honored to be a part of this journey and look forward to more exciting times with the Bigo Live community.”
