Instead of viewing Netflix as a competitor, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, decided to form a partnership with Netflix to strengthen their viewership as they offer Netflix to its Ultra box subscribers and soon to be on the Ulti box.
Euan Smith, Astro’s Group Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Pay-TV is excited for this partnership as he believes that this partnership allows the viewers to enjoy more choice, better value, and savings with exciting new packages suited for the streaming and connected world.
During the launch ceremony, Smith also mentioned that “This exciting new addition comes alongside our ongoing collaborations with Disney+ Hotstar, HBO GO, iQIYI and TVBAnywhere+, with more streaming partners to be announced in the months ahead.” He also added that the behind of this collaboration is to escalate all viewer’s Astro experience and suit their needs, by providing more choice and more outstanding content.
As for Tony Zameczkowski, Vice President for Business Development, APAC, Netflix, he believes that by collaborating with Astro, it helps them reach their goal as the best-in-class entertainment to their consumers in Malaysia, as more Malaysians will be able to experience and enjoy their entire catalog.
