DATO SRI ABDUL KARIM OFFICIATES FIRST-EVER BEAUTY PAGEANT NFT AT THE MTI 2022 WORLD FINAL LAUNCH

Themed ‘Bringing Sarawak to the World’, and with the mission of ‘Promoting Tourism, Culture and Friendship’, the 25th Miss Tourism International (MTI) 2022 World Final will commence on 13 November 2022 until 27 November 2022. During the World Final, delegates from 60 countries will be participating in the beauty pageant. During the competition, delegates will partake in promotional tours, charity visits, and sponsorship activities, to promote tourism in Sarawak. At the world finals, MTI will be introducing their very own non-fungible token (NFT) backed by Quantum Metal Gold alongside MTI Pageants Foundation where they will be supporting career advancement and empowerment of women worldwide. The first batch of NFT will be featuring the Seven of the Reigning Queens of 2021, followed by the 60 country delegates from the 2022 World Final.

Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, said, “As Miss Tourism International is celebrating its Silver Jubilee, it is aptly to bring this 25th Miss Tourism International back to Sarawak, Land of the Hornbills, to celebrate this momentous occasion.”

In the aftermath of COVID-19, the tourism industry in Malaysia has suffered immensely. Therefore, by setting up a beauty pageant to promote tourism in Sarawak, Abdul Karim, advisor to the MTI 2022 World Final, stated that the beauty pageant will be a great way to promote Sarawak’s tourism experience and would be a great host to delegates from the 60 countries. He also added that this opportunity would provide relief to Malaysia’s tourism sector after suffering from the pandemic. 

Esther Law, Organising Chairwoman, and YAST Group Founder celebrated the inception of Silver Jubilee as the platform for women to showcase not only their beauty but their wisdom and friendliness. Law stated, “As Anak Sarawak, I will strive to make this event a memorable and impactful one as I am confident that this event will not only be able to benefit the participating delegates, but this event will set forth a ripple effect.”

Ministry’s permanent secretary Hii Chang Kee; Kuching North Datuk Bandar Datu Junaidi Reduan; Kuching South mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng; Quantum Metal Gold founder Dato Lim Khong Soon; Miss Malaysia Tourism 2021, How Zo Ee; Miss Malaysia Tourism 2015, Xandria Ban; and Miss Malaysia Tourism 1994, Datin Emelia Rosnaida were present during the launching ceremony.
