Local girl group Dolla is currently the third Malaysian act to grace the Times Square billboard in New York after Yuna, and young -rising star Layla Sania. Their appearance on the digital billboard was meant to represent Malaysian singers in Spotify’s EQUAL campaign, a global program aiming to foster equity for women in audio and nurturing equity by highlighting female artists around the world.
The group is made up of four extremely talented girls – Sabronzo, Tabby, Syasya, and Angel. The group has captivated Malaysian listeners with hits such as Dolla Makes You Wanna and Impikan, and their latest single, BERANI. Representing the band, Sabronzo said, “Words just cannot express how we feel right now. This is such a huge honor for a newly formed vocal group like us and we hope we can continue to live up to the expectations of our fans.”
Dolla’s latest release ‘BERANI’ is dedicated to women who wish to better their lives and are not afraid to stand up for themselves and fight against oppression and fear. The music video was stood out from conventional ones because of the use of animated media in depicting Dolla’s presence in a different world, as well as the projection of 2D objects into 3D.
BERANI is available on all digital platforms for streaming; the music video on the other hand, can be viewed at Dolla’s Vevo YouTube channel.
