Lotus’s Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening homegrown entrepreneurship and domestic economic growth with the launch of the eighth Buy Malaysian Products Campaign (BMC) at Lotus’s Setia Alam. Held on 6 November 2025, the initiative is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN / MDT COL) and continues to function as an important platform for Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to showcase locally produced goods to a nationwide consumer base.

The campaign features product showcases, cooking demonstrations, sampling activities and in-store promotions, enabling shoppers to discover, experience, and purchase Malaysian-made products directly from participating SMEs at accessible price points. Officiating the launch were Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr. Senator Hajah Fuziah Salleh, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, together with Azliza Azmel, Corporate Services Executive Director of Lotus’s Malaysia.

Speaking at the event, Azliza underscored Lotus’s role as a long-term partner in SME development, saying, “At Lotus’s, we believe local SMEs are the backbone of the Malaysian economy. Through this campaign, we want to continue being a platform that helps them grow, scale, and reach more customers. Our long-term partnership with KPDN reflects our shared commitment to driving domestic economic growth and promoting national self-sufficiency.” She added, “By showcasing local innovation and quality, we hope to inspire more Malaysians to support homegrown brands, ensuring every Ringgit spent creates a ripple of positive impact for local businesses and communities.”

Beyond the BMC campaign itself, Lotus’s Malaysia continues to invest in SME capability-building through a series of structured programmes. These include twice-yearly SME Fairs offering up to 50% discounts on selected SME products, participation in business matching sessions organized by MDT COL and other government agencies to identify potential new suppliers, and SME Empowerment Seminars that have benefited over 400 individuals from 150 companies since 2024. Seven SMEs from the most recent seminar are now preparing to list their products with Lotus’s. The retailer also provides ongoing business mentoring for existing SME suppliers to enhance product marketability, strengthen quality, and support sales growth.

The 2025 BMC brings together 19 participating SMEs, including 11 entrepreneurs from Lotus’s latest SME Empowerment Seminar. Lotus’s is also welcoming five social entrepreneurs, highlighting initiatives such as activewear for persons with disabilities, employment opportunities for adults with special needs, environmental education programmes, food and beverage empowerment projects, and sustainable protein solutions, reflecting a broader commitment to inclusion and social impact alongside commercial growth.

Adding to the momentum of the campaign, Lotus’s Setia Alam hosted a one-day exclusive “Jualan Rahmah” promotion on 6 November 2025, offering up to 30% discounts on 75 selected SKUs comprising groceries, essential commodities, household detergents and fresh produce. In conjunction with the campaign, Lotus’s also recognised several high-performing SME suppliers for consistent service and sales excellence, a gesture aimed at motivating local entrepreneurs to continuously raise product standards and compete confidently with more established brands in the marketplace.

Collectively, the campaign, mentorship programmes, and supplier recognition initiatives underscore Lotus’s broader strategy of helping Malaysian SMEs move from participation to sustained competitiveness, strengthening domestic supply chains, enhancing consumer awareness of local products, and contributing to the nation’s economic resilience in the years ahead.
