Canon, a global pioneer in photography and digital imaging solutions, is now the printing sponsor for Exposure+ Photo, which takes place from February 26 to March 13, 2022. With a series of exhibitions, seminars, talks, photo walks, and other photographic activities, the photography event is currently offering a platform for Malaysia-based photographers to display their photography abilities. Canon was ignited by the activities offered by Exposure+ Photo since it is in line with their objective to encourage the passion for photography and motivate others to value photography in the local scene.

In January 2021, 96 individuals submitted their application to participate in Exposure+ Photo where they are required to submit works that lead back to the theme of staying connected during the pandemic. Out of the 96 applicants, only 11 Malaysia-based photographers were selected for the event. The shortlisted photographers will stand a chance to feature their work alongside five international photographers across seven participating venues in Kuala Lumpur including one in Petaling Jaya.

Throughout the exhibition, Canon will print all of the images on display, as well as hold three photography workshops at Lot 18 Gallery. Canon will also provide the newest cameras and lenses for the selected photographers, who will be mentored by Canon ambassadors and will have the opportunity to experience Canon’s professional picture printing.

Participating venues of the Exposure+ Photo are as follows:

  •     GMBB Arts and Events Complex
  •     High Street Studios Arts Events Space
  •     LOKL Coffee Co
  •     Kloé Hotel
  •     Lullaby Bar and Event Space
  •     Lot18 Gallery
  •     REXKL multi-event space
  •     Zontiga photography gallery and studio

Hunter Zhang, Director of Imaging Communications Business Division at Canon Marketing Malaysia said, Exposure+ Photo resonates deeply with Canon as it empowers the community through compelling visual storytelling. We are proud to support this initiative as it showcases the outstanding skillsets of our local artists. This is our way of acknowledging their creations while inspiring the public to explore their creativity using photography.”

Guided by our Kyosei philosophy, we believe in a greater good for the community that we live in. Canon will continue our commitment to supporting such events, to create new possibilities for photographic expressions for present and future generations via our cutting-edge technologies. We hope to contribute to shaping a brighter future where the Malaysian photography community can flourish,” added Zhang.
