The British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) marked a milestone moment for bilateral business leadership in November 2025 as it celebrated outstanding British and Malaysian companies at the 6th Business Excellence Awards (BEA). After a rigorous evaluation process by an independent panel of judges and assessors, 45 companies emerged as winners across multiple categories, reflecting the depth, resilience, and innovation shaping UK–Malaysia commercial ties.

Positioned as one of the highest benchmarks of business recognition between the two nations, the BMCC Business Excellence Awards honor companies that have demonstrated exceptional performance, innovation, and long-term commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment. This year’s Awards spanned eight achievement categories, spotlighting organizations that continue to raise the bar across sectors.

“Congratulations to all our winners for standing out amid stiff competition. The BMCC Business Excellence Awards have become a hallmark of distinction, honouring organisations and individuals who exemplify excellence, resilience, and collaboration. This year, we are especially proud to have received a record-breaking number of submissions. Our ESG and SME categories doubled in participation – this surge reflects the growing commitment of our members to responsible growth and sustainable impact – values that resonate strongly in today’s business landscape,” said Mak Joon Nien, Chairman of the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.

The evening’s highest accolade, UK–Malaysian Business of the Year, was awarded to One Complete Solutions Sdn Bhd (OCS Malaysia). Rising from Second Runner-up the previous year, the company has strengthened its position as a leading integrated facilities management provider, delivering services spanning maintenance, security, energy optimization, and sustainability consulting. With a 95% client retention rate, strong ESG outcomes, and a growing regional footprint, OCS Malaysia exemplifies how global standards paired with local commitment can generate enduring economic, social, and environmental value.

A Special UK–Malaysia Excellence Award was presented to YTL Developments (UK) Limited for its transformative Brabazon project. By reimagining a historic UK site into a sustainable, future-ready urban district, YTL has reinforced economic and cultural connections while delivering world-class infrastructure, residential, commercial, and community developments, demonstrating how Malaysian enterprises can drive innovation and long-term impact abroad.

Highlighting the broader trade environment, His Excellency Ajay Sharma CMG, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, affirmed, “Bilateral trade between the UK and Malaysia, is now worth around £6 billion, and should strengthen further as businesses enjoy tariff-free trade in goods and services thanks to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Complemented by our ongoing co-operation with Malaysia through the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), we continue to remove trade barriers for our economic partnership to grow. It is important for businesses to take advantage of the opportunities – from traditional sectors like education to new sectors like green growth and digital innovation. And I have been hugely impressed by the work the Chamber and its members are doing in helping to translate these opportunities into tangible outcomes.”
