ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FINAS NEW CEO YBRS. PROF DR MD NASIR IBRAHIM, FINAS HOSTING THE 31ST MALAM ANUGERAH FESTIVAL FILEM MALAYSIA, FINAS PLANNING ON THE BAJET 2022 AND “PREBET SAPU” TO REPRESENT MALAYSIA FOR THE 94TH OSCARS

On the 21st October 2021, Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) release a statement mentioning that they had decided to unveil the decisions made during the meeting for the board member of FINAS which was chaired by YBrs. Tuan Zakaria Abdul Hamid the Chairman of FINAS. During the meeting, FINAS agreed to host the 31st Malam Anugerah Festival Filem Malaysia (FFM31) on the 10th December 2021 with the concept of minimizing the risk of Covid-19 by following the given SOP. In addition, Malaysian Creative Capacity Enhancement Programme (MyCAP) will be available for the creative industry effectively from 22nd October 2021 till 21st November 2021.

As for the 1st November 2021,  as a new addition to FINAS, YBrs. Prof Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim has been appointed new chief executive officer effectively starting on 1st November 2021 until 30th October 2023 as Dr Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri ended his service on the 15th October 2021. A small introduction to FINAS new CEO, he completed his degree with University of Tasmania, Australia in 2008 and a postdoctoral qualification from Sheffield Hallam University, the United Kingdom in 2014 both in Philosophy in Arts. KKMM also believe that with his expertise and vast experience in the field of creative industry, he can lead FINAS as a leading body to uplift the film industry in Malaysia.

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Ministry of Finance, had announced the Bajet 2022 which was themed as “Keluarga Malaysia, Makmur Sejahtera” as an inclusive aid to help out “Keluarga Malaysia” as it provided a recovery planning, providing supports and connections while helping to reform “Keluarga Malaysia”. FINAS mentioned that they would want to show a big appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for releasing the Bajet 2022 by revitalizing all creative industry with RM188 million and reinitiating Dana Kandungan Digital (DKD), Projek Kandungan Multimedia Digital, Film Incentives, Perkasa Modal Insan Program, PERKESO protection for the local artist. As an addition, FINAS would also announce tax free services to all cinema industry within Wilayah Persekutuan until the 31st December 2022.

“Prebet Sapu” also known as “Hail, Driver!”, made by Le Mediator Studio, was officially selected by Muzammer Rahman to represent Malaysia for Best International Feature Film for the 94th OSCARS that will be commence on 27th March 2022 at Los Angeles.
