KLFW GRAND COMEBACK AS 48 HOMEGROWN DESIGNERS WERE FEATURED IN PAVILION KL

From the 1st November till 7th November 2021, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) made a mega comeback by featuring the work of homegrown designers with their creativity of honouring local fashion by having a series of physical and digital shows via hurr.tv. Throughout the event, KLFW was supported by AmBank Malaysia as their Official Banking Partner together with Lexus as they return as the main Official Sponsor.

As AmBank unveiled their exclusive “Metal Card”, Lexus showcased both Lexus UX and LC500 Convertible as display in Pavilion KL. Lexus also presented their own Lexus Design Award during KLFW as they believe that KLFA “will not only recognise the resilience and innovation displayed by these fashion designers in the previous year, but also serve as a platform to highlight undiscovered talents.” according to Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of Lexus Malaysia.

Throughout the event, local favourites Alia Bastaman, Behati, Kit Woo and Borneo-born Wynka and other 45 local designers successfully showcased their latest ready-to-wear collections for both digital and physical shows.

KLFW started off the physical show by unveiling the Top 12 Winners from the Samsung Model Search as each of winners wore one design made by the participated designers to support the hard work created by the local designers during the hard times.

During “Thread of Heritage, A Truly Malaysian Textiles” was showcased by Cheminahsayang and it is an appreciation to Malaysia’s lush versatile textiles. Her Majesty, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah’s hand-blocked batik design which was produced by Yus of Kakee Batik was also featured during KLFW.

With KLFW collaboration with Taylor’s University and Barbie Mattel, “The Patung Project” was one of the highlights during KLFW as it showcased the diverse arts and craft of various ethnicities in Malaysia. Four different artisanal themes like Nyonya Beading, Tekat Embroidery, Calligraphy and Henna were presenting by Students from Taylor’s Fashion Design Technology programme.
