WERNER PURCHASES COPYRIGHTS OF 16 SONGS FROM THE BATTLE OF LOCAL ORIGINAL

In a duration of 2 months, 18 singers had the opportunity to compete in a competition organized by “乐乐伙伴” (The Battle of Local Original). The competition crowned Lim Zijing as the champion of the night where the Perak representative brought home RM10,000 with his “I’ll Kill It” song sung by Zhao Jieying. 

183 students submitted their original work to The Battle of Local Original during the application period in March 2021. Together with the production team, professional music teachers filtered down the application to 30 original works and was sent to music producers of the competition for the 10-episode team competition. The 10-episode was also aired on the facebook page of “Funhub TV” where it attracted 120.4K viewers throughout the competition.

Soon after, Lin Derong, judge and founder of Lunchbox Channel announced that Warner Music had purchased the copyright of the 16 songs and will be shooting it during the second season. Lin also mentioned that “We really hope to make some contribution to the Malaysian music scene and discover more young creators. This time we will not hesitate to spend RM10,000 for 150 production fee just to make this show a success.”

Producers of “乐乐伙伴” (The Battle of Local Original), Liang Zuyi, Zhao Jieying and Liu Jiehui commended the contestants for providing a mega performance throughout the two months.
