The Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) has raised RM100,000 through its ‘Love Touches Lives’ charity project to aid single mothers in Malaysia. MRCA has contributed over RM1 mil through the MRCA Branding Education Charity Foundation to many charitable causes in the past; this time, MRCA aims to support single mothers that are struggling during this pandemic.
MRCA managed to donate to 165 selected single mothers from six charity organizations, many of which are daily wage earners who flounder to make ends meet while supporting their families during these trying times. Some suffer from terminal illnesses, some have disabled children, and some forced work at old age to fend for their grandchildren, whose parents have passed away.
The charity organizations – Great Heart Charity Association, Kassim Chin Humanity Foundation, Persatuan Ibu Tunggal Spring Malaysia, Association of Social Services and Community Development of Gombak District, Selangor (PSPK), Women of Will, and Persatuan Wanita & Ibu Tunggal Nur Iman KL & Selangor (WITUS), were involved in this project.
“We feel a strong need to lend a hand to these single mothers, and it is our social responsibility as an association to give back to society. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this noble cause. Through the ‘Love Touches Lives’ charity project, MRCA hopes to rekindle the spirit of charity in the hearts of Malaysians,” said Ms. Shirley Tay, MRCA President, and Organising Chairperson.
