SHELL MALAYSIA LAUNCHES WORLD’S FIRST CARBON NEUTRAL ENGINE OIL

Shell Malaysia, leading global lubricant supplier, has launched its first carbon neutral engine oils as part of its continuous commitment to provide consumers with a more sustainable choice of motor oil without compromising its high engine performance and engine protection, traits that have made Shell Helix renowned around the world. It also the world’s first carbon neutral1 lubricant made from natural gas.

The launch was a testament to one of the company’s many initiatives to help reduce carbon emissions together with its customers, in line with Shell’s ambition to become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.

“Shell Malaysia is pleased to be able to provide a variety of low-carbon energy solutions to our customers, from electric vehicle charging and biofuels to now carbon neutral lubricants,” said Dato Ivan Tan, Chairman of Shell Malaysia.

Shell’s global portfolio of nature-based carbon credits will compensate CO2e emissions from the entire lifecycle of these products, including the raw materials, packaging, production, distribution, customer use and product end-of-life. Shell also works with projects around the world that help reduce CO2e emissions, while improving the lives of local communities and protecting biodiversity.

During the launch, Nyon Kam Yew, General Manager of Shell Lubricants Business Malaysia & Singapore, said, “Shell Malaysia is introducing the Shell Helix carbon neutral engine oil series under its super premium fully synthetic range – Helix Power and Protect. These engine oils are formulated with Shell PurePlus Technology, which is made from 99.5% pure base oil from natural gas, as well as trusted and recommended by Scuderia Ferrari”.
