The Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MYBHA) celebrated its 23rd Anniversary with a grand event attended by esteemed members, and friends. The event was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC).
A significant highlight was the recognition of MYBHA’s founder, YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Kadir Bin Sheikh Fadzir, and the celebration of Mr. Leong Pui Kun, the former president, who received the prestigious Honorary Membership for their contributions.
The event also featured the momentous launch of the Membership App, MyBHA Connect, by Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing. This app aims to enhance communication and connectivity among MYBHA members, facilitating networking, resource sharing, and convenient access to benefits such as the Members Hotel Directory, Digital Membership Certificate, Online Membership Payment, Event updates, and Hoteliers Marketplace.
Seizing the opportunity of the night, the Association leadership highlighted pressing challenges faced by the industry and urged the government to address them. The pressing challenges included short-term rental accommodation, online travel agencies platforms, unfair terms of business operations where only registered & licensed hotels are being asked to follow rules and regulations as well as service tax thresholds that had never been revised.
Furthermore, eight Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements with CHUBB Insurance Malaysia Berhad; TPLINK Distribution Malaysia Sdn. Bhd; GLENVEX Sdn. Bhd (GLENVEX)& HYGIEIA Growth Ventures PLT (WeCuci); GUA Sdn. Bhd (ibilik); Infra Bunga Sdn. Bhd.; The Asean-Retail Chains Franchise Federation (ARFF); Business Networking Club KL & PJ (BNC); and the Malaysia Obstacle Race Sport Association (MORSA) were signed during the event, strengthening affiliations and enhancing benefits for MYBHA members.
