The Anugerah Drama Sangat 2023 awards took place at Putrajaya International Convention Centre where the drama series ‘Suamiku Lelaki Pendosa’ took home four awards.
Produced by Global Station Sdn Bhd, the series won Best Antagonist Actor (Gambit Saifullah), Best Actor (Datuk Aaron Aziz), Best Director (Eyra Rahman) and Best Drama awards.
While the drama touched on the taboo subject of homosexuality, producer Alia Ramly said it did not aim to glorify it, but rather to highlight a scenario that exists in society.
“After seeing the script, I know we needed to get guidelines from the religious authority, so we were lucky to be guided by the Islamic Development Department Malaysia (Jakim).
The awards show was broadcast live on TV3 where a total of 15 awards were up for grabs, with 10 judged for the best category and five voted by fans for popular awards. Among the awards were Best Drama, Popular Drama, Best Actor, Best Actress, and tonton’s Choice of Oppa.
