The press conference for the 6th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) showcased the full range of programs scheduled for its upcoming edition. With a selection of 42 films hailing from 15 different countries, the festival promises a diverse cinematic experience. In a significant announcement, the renowned filmmaker Johnnie To was introduced as the President of the competition jury, adding prestige to the event. Additionally, MIFFest honored the esteemed actress Sylvia Chang with the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the world of cinema. The conference also unveiled the top 10 finalists and nominations for the BMW Shorties 2023, adding further excitement to the festival.
The 6th MIFFest has garnered an impressive number of submissions, surpassing 300, indicating its ability to draw talented filmmakers globally. This substantial response serves as evidence of MIFFest’s increasing reputation and dedication to acknowledging exceptional talents within the film industry.

The 6th Malaysia International Film Festival 2023 will be taking place at LaLaport BBCC from 23 to 29 July 2023, whereas the Awards Night will be held on 29 July 2023 at Zepp, Kuala Lumpur.
