On the 12th November 2021, Alibaba Group Holding Limited had concluded that on its 13th annual 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, they successfully generated RMB540.3 billion (MYR 352.94 billion) in gross merchandise volume (GMV) during the 11-day campaign.
Yang Guang, Vice President at Alibaba Group, stated “This 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, we delivered steady and quality growth that is a reflection of the dynamic Chinese consumption economy. We also leveraged the power of 11.11 as a platform to fulfill our social responsibility. This year’s festival was a meaningful milestone as part of our commitment towards building a sustainable future.”
With a record breaking of 290,000 brands participated in this year’s 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, which were consisted of 65% of small and medium-sized businesses, manufacturers from industrial belts and new brands. The GMV of agricultural products surged up to another 20% as the sales from agriculture belts were going strong.
By using the renewable energy system in the Zhangbei County data center, it supports Alibaba’s e-commerce businesses by reducing more than 26,000 tons of carbon emission.
