Selangor Fashion Week 2024 recently showcased the latest fashion trends, highlighting creativity and talent. The event was held on Saturday, October 19, followed by The Next Look Modeling and Talent Competition on Sunday, October 20, at Subang Parade.

The event honored distinguished guests, including Puan Fatimah Abu Bakar, representing Dato’ Kamil Othman, Chairman of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), and YBhg. Approximately 100 models of varying ages and backgrounds participated, including 40 children aged 4 to 11, 20 teenagers aged 12 to 17, and 40 adults. This diverse representation emphasized the event’s commitment to inclusivity. The main goal was to provide both emerging and established models a platform for industry exposure while showcasing collections from top designers like Faramas, Muddy, and Maswira.

The Next Look Modeling and Talent Competition, held on October 20, was themed “Everyone Can Shine.” It celebrated inclusivity by bringing together participants from different backgrounds to honor both modern and cultural fashion. The competition emphasized fashion education, particularly for children, teenagers, and fashion students from various universities.

What distinguishes this competition is its focus on education and growth. Winners will receive scholarships for fashion and modeling training, which includes catwalk instruction, public speaking, and confidence-building courses. They will also have the opportunity to attend the Bangkok Kids International Fashion Week 2024 in November. The top three participants from each category will advance to the final round, with the chance to represent Malaysia on the international stage.
