Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia (YUM), a non-government organization in the business and entrepreneur scene, successfully organized its 10th SME and Business Awards (SEBA) 2023 to wrap up the year of 2023. The celebration was held at Sheraton Petaling Jaya, and officiated by Malaysia’s Entrepreneur & Cooperatives Development Minister, Ewon Benedick, with former Health Minister and Hot FM’s Radio DJ, Khairy Jamaluddin as a special guest.
Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia Chairman and SEBA Founder expressed pride and gratitude, “As we celebrate the 10th edition of SEBA this year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. What started as a vision almost a decade ago has grown into a platform that recognizes and honors the outstanding achievements of individuals and businesses in the various SME sectors across the nation. It’s truly inspiring to witness the remarkable contributions that have shaped our industry over the years,”
“Aimed at not only recognizing but strengthening the SMEs as an integral part of the economies of Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Indonesia, we are confident that with the introduction of SEBA Borneo Edition, the bulk of the Entrepreneurs & Enterprises will be able to sustain and face the challenges of the future.”
The theme for this year, “UNITY | Celebrating Entrepreneurs,” utilized artificial intelligence to enhance engagement and value among sponsors, partners, and guests through SEBA’s first AI Assistant, Suzy. The event honored 41 Entrepreneurs & Enterprises from Malaysia, including Sabah & Sarawak, with notable awards such as Unity Icon of the Year going to Datuk DJ Dave, Celebrity Entrepreneur Ella, and Entrepreneur of The Year 2023 awarded to the founders of Zus Coffee, Ian Chua and Venon Tian.
Following the success of the Northern Edition launched in Penang in 2022, SEBA also announced the launch of the Borneo Edition, scheduled to take place in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, in June 2024. The introduction of SEBA Borneo Edition aims not only to recognize but also to strengthen SMEs as integral contributors to the economies of Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and Indonesia.
