The seventh edition of the Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant (Top ECM) Awards, organized by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) with Affin Bank Berhad as the main sponsor for the fourth consecutive year has garnered RM58.9 million in sales and 427.843 orders.  Launched on 23 August 2022, this year’s Top ECM saw the highest number of submissions since its first edition with 440 applications. This is a 106.6% increase from the previous year’s record of 213 submissions.

Mr. Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive Officer of SIDEC, said that the consistent improvement in the number of applications shows the continuous growth of the e-commerce industry The Malaysia Top ECM Awards is a prestigious award that seeks to reward the most successful, creative, and innovative homegrown e-commerce merchants. At the same time, merchants who take part can benefit from increased recognition and opportunities to further increase their brand’s presence among industry players.

SIDEC also received support from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) in providing additional export facilitation to the top five winners of the TOP ECM Awards to leverage their international market expansion.

YB Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Selangor State Executive Councilor for Industry and Trade shared, “As Selangor prepares to position itself as the digital hub of ASEAN, the award has showcased how it caters to national level participants and managed to attract the interest of hundreds of e-merchants to compete in this annual competition.”

Mr. Tan Lai Hock, Acting Executive Director of Enterprise Banking, Representing Affin Bank Berhad said, “Being the backbone of the Malaysian economy, it is crucial for our SMEs to be equipped with all the important tools and encouragement to ensure their sustainability especially while weathering the uncertainties and Global economic challenges coming out of the pandemic.”

He added, ” We understand the challenges that entrepreneurs and SMEs may face when they are embarking on their journey as a startup which is the reason we offer a wide range of financial inclusion products and services as well as relevant business tools such as our SME Colony Mobile Application.”

Winners at the TOP ECM Awards 2022 brought home RM60,000 worth of cash and prizes. SAMU Giken Malaysia Sdn. Bhd was declared the champion of this year’s TOP ECM, receiving RM12,000 in cash, a trophy, and a certificate.

Fipper Marketing Sdn. Bhd and Global Synergy Concepts Sdn. Bhd clinched the second and third spots receiving RM10,000 and RM80,000 in cash as well as trophies and certificates.

All participating e-merchants were judged based on three criteria, namely Online Sales Contest (50%), Livestream Contest (25%), and Business Potential (25%), and this year’s TOP ECM was presided over by a panel of seven respected individuals from the e-commerce industry on five core areas; merchant’s products; platforms; visibility; promotions and business potential.
