Proton has officially introduced the eMas 7 (stylized as e.MAS 7), its first-ever production electric vehicle (EV), during an event at MITEC officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This marks a major advancement in Proton’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market and Malaysia’s automotive industry.

The eMas 7 is available in two variants: the Prime, priced at RM109,800, and the Premium, priced at RM123,800 (excluding insurance). Early buyers will benefit from an RM4,000 discount for the first 3,000 units, reducing the prices to RM105,800 for the Prime and RM119,800 for the Premium.

Both variants feature a front-mounted electric motor generating 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. This setup makes the eMas 7 Proton’s fastest-accelerating model, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 175 km/h.

The Proton eMas 7 is available with two battery configurations. The Prime model is equipped with a 49.52 kWh battery, delivering a range of 345 km, while the Premium variant features a larger 60.22 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 410 km.

At the event, Proton highlighted the battery’s durability, reporting that it maintains 90.5% health after 921 full charge-discharge cycles, equivalent to 400,000 km—surpassing international standards.

In addition, the new EVs offers AC charging at 11 kW, requiring 4.9 hours for a full charge in the Prime model and 6.1 hours for the Premium. For DC fast charging, the Prime supports up to 80 kW, while the Premium accommodates up to 100 kW. Both variants can charge from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes, addressing the needs of users with demanding schedules.

With its competitive pricing, robust battery performance, and advanced charging capabilities, the Proton eMas 7 positions itself as a strong contender in the electric vehicle market, appealing to businesses and individuals seeking sustainable mobility solutions.
