MALAYSIA & TAIWAN’S CO-PRODUCED FILM ‘ALONE’ RECEIVES FINAS’ “WAJIB TAYANG” CERTIFICATE AND BRINGS AWARENESS ON ALZHEIMERS

The much-awaited film – Alone was officially premiered at Dadi Cinemas, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 28 July 2023.  The emotionally charged film by Malaysian-Chinese director Datin’ Yoko Chou reflected the journey into the realm of family and Alzheimer’s. Drawing from personal experiences, Chou crafted a genuine and moving storyline that seamlessly blended elements of Taiwanese and Malaysian culture. The delicate performances of actors, particularly Micheal Huang, Sherrin Lin, Hero Tai, and Bruce Yap, left an enduring impact on the audience.

Marking a significant milestone, this sincere and authentic drama achieved the distinction of being Malaysia’s inaugural international collaboration with Taiwan. The film, “Alone,” emerged as the highly anticipated centerpiece of the year, focusing on Alzheimer’s, and succeeded in delivering a deeply moving and genuine cinematic journey that resonates long after its viewing.

The premiere and press conference for ‘Alone’ was attended by a star-studded red carpet event graced by dignitaries from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office and many Malaysian industry figures, actors, artists, hosts, and social media influencers. Many audience members were moved to tears after watching the film, expressing their admiration. Some were compelled to go home to visit their parents immediately, and others expressed a desire to watch the film again with their friends and family.

In addition to this, the film has received Malaysia’s FINAS Wajib Tayang certificate and is now released nation wide in 50 cinemas across Malaysia.
