The Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) awarded twenty (20) organizations and a personality for their outstanding contributions to the growth of the halal industry during its prestigious World Halal Excellence Awards 2022 (WHEA 2022).
The event was officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia with the company of YB Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) where they presented awards to individuals, organizations, and companies by HDC who have been global top performers in the USD3 trillion markets (a popular stock market index).
Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, “This event is most timely as it echoes the pace of ongoing economic growth supported by the contributions, achievements, and commendable efforts of halal industry players in including greater product and market complexity while integrating Malaysian products globally and tapping on the great potential of this trillion-dollar industry.”
As a highlight of the award ceremony, HDC announced the ‘World Halal Business Conference Circuit 2023 (WHBCC)’ hosted by MITI in London, United Kingdom (UK) from 23 – 24 October 2023. The conference aims to promote business initiatives between Malaysia and the UK in three pillars, Investment Promotion, Quality Employment, and Trade Negotiation.
Notable organizations and names who received main category awards include H.E Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasse, Chairman and president of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group as the winner of the Halal Leadership Excellence Award; The Selangor State Government as the winner of the Halal State Performance Excellence Award; Alliance Bank Malaysia; Islamic Development Bank (IsDB); Gerbang Alaf Restaurants Sdn. Bhd (also known as McDonald’s); Tasco Berhad; Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad; amongst many others.
