After intensive research into profiles of hundreds of applicants, the Supermodel Universe Malaysia pageant was able to shortlist 80 contestants, that made an appearance at the Top 25 Reveal event that was held at Silk Publika on 10 April. The contestants consisting of 29 females, 28 males, and 23 kids/teens went through the final selection round where they presented themselves in front of a panel of judges, showed off their catwalk & photo posing skills, and answered a series of interview questions – to determine the Top 20 models that will be competing in the grand finale.
Ammetta Malhotra, National Director of Supermodel Universe Malaysia, said, “This year, I feel was the most overwhelming response and I feel so excited to see the quality of the models and also the professionalism they displayed to learn and to grow with the pageant. The eminent panel of judges will assess and give feedback to the contestants based on their catwalk, body, presentation, and photoshoot.”
After an intense and invigorating show of talent, the judges were able to evaluate and select the best candidates to represent ‘Top 20’ from each category; the final order of the top 20 in each category will be revealed in a press conference that will take place in August. They are to prepare for the grand finale which is scheduled to take place on 4 September at the Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel. The winners of the Supermodel Universe Malaysia 2021 (1 Male & 1 Female) will represent Malaysia in the 2021 Supermodel Universe International finals.
The panel of judges includes – Angel Gracias (Supermodel Universe 2020 second runner-up), Mertinih Ivy Joklis (Ratu Elegan Malaysia 2018/2019), Previtha Rajah (Supermodel Universe Malaysia 2020 Ambassador), Renee Tang (Supermodel Universe Malaysia 2019 Ambassador, and catwalk trainer), Mosi (International Fashion and Fitness Model), Mala Fo-ever (Mrs International Global 2017) and Nwabuike Uchechukwu (founder and director of Miss Africa Malaysia), among others.
