The most anticipated comic event, the Taiwan Malaysia International Comic Week 2021 will be going live on 15 September 2021, where visitors are able to access the exhibition for free. The exhibition is divided into four thematic exhibitions themed – “POP UP! Designer Toys Tribute Exhibition”.
The online event is organized by the Taiwan Ministry of Culture, Cultural Section, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, in partnership with Taipei Comic Labour Union, National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Nippon Designers School Malaysia, and Malaysia Comicker Union.
The Taiwan Malaysia International Comic Week 2021 will feature 12 extraordinary 3D artworks that were designed by local toy designers and comic artists specifically for the exhibition. Some of them include – Malaysian graffiti artist Kenji Chai; toy designers, AH-B Blowwater, Jefferson Ng, and Ah Guan; renowned Malaysian cartoonist, Sky Yong. They imply 3D works with innovative ideas to bring new experiences and insights towards Taiwan comics characters for the viewers.
Horror and thriller enthusiasts will enjoy the “Asian Comic Artist One Page Horror Comic Essence Exhibition” and the Taiwan Ghost Literature Special Exhibition” where visitors are able to view and indulge in about 65 One Page Horror Comics selected from over 174 cartoonists across Asia. Viewers have the opportunity to experience the horrific visual sensory stimulation from both Taiwan and Malaysia.
Apart from the exhibition itself, two online forums are to be conducted: the Taiwan-Malaysia International Manga Forum and the Manga Master Class. The sessions will include big names in the industry such as Chairman of Taipei Comic Labour Union Max Lai; organizer of Comic Fiesta Nerv Lim; Taiwanese senior cartoonist, Cheng Yen Yun; Malaysia Comicker Union president Liu Shaw Ming; Malaysian comic artist, Fishball.
