Malaysia’s vibrant heritage and creative industry are gearing up for a major showcase as the Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 (6th Edition) officially launches in tandem with Karnival Kebaya Malaysia 4.0. Designed to support the nation’s Visit Malaysia 2026 aspirations, the event bridges local design talent from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak with delegates, academic institutions, and industry pioneers from ASEAN member states and China.

Strategic alliances take center stage

Organized by Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK), the multi-sector initiative serves as an ecosystem connecting heritage textiles, contemporary fashion, education, and tourism promotion.

A central element of the launch program involves the execution of key industry agreements. Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) are set to be signed with UNITAR International University, UCSI University, and Playground Academy to drive research, talent exposure, and entrepreneurial training.

Concurrently, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Instant Media Sdn. Bhd.—organizer of the Malaysia International Textile & Tourism Expo (MITTE) 2026—and MMK will establish a collaborative framework spanning textile trade, investment, and cultural heritage.

Puan Zuraini, Director of the Package Development Division at Tourism Malaysia, will officiate the launch on behalf of YBrs. Tuan Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, and witness the strategic signing ceremonies.

Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Dr. Jason Hee Jee Pin, Founder of Miss Malaysia Kebaya and Organising Chairman of Selangor Fashion Week International 2026, shared, “Selangor Fashion Week International is more than a runway. It is a platform where fashion becomes a bridge connecting heritage, culture, tourism, education, industry and international friendship. Through stronger partnerships among government, academia, industry and the international community, we aim to empower future talents, preserve Malaysia’s multicultural heritage, strengthen the creative economy and bring the Malaysian story to a wider global audience. From Malaysia to ASEAN, China and the world, we are building bridges through fashion, heritage and culture while supporting the aspirations of Visit Malaysia 2026.”

The organizing committee acknowledged the support of Tourism Malaysia, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), corporate sponsors, academic partners, and international delegates in realizing the event’s vision to unite fashion, trade, and heritage.
