Royal Selangor celebrated its 140th anniversary with a milestone event, officiated by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), YB Tuan Khairul Firdaus, at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, launching a year-long campaign. Blending contemporary expression with tradition, renowned graffiti artists Abdul Rashade (@abdulrashade), Iskandar (@siek27), and Adi Azwan (@wise.wan) of Wise Works Collective created a striking mural that narrates the Royal Selangor story from 1885 to 2025, reinterpreting its history through bold, modern artistry.
A nostalgic highlight was the restored vintage Kombi van, a tribute to Royal Selangor’s pioneering spirit. In the 1960s, the second-generation founder’s wife personally drove a Kombi to deliver products to Seremban, a rare feat for women at the time. Now, this symbolic vehicle now stands as a testament to resilience and innovation, honoring the brand’s progressive legacy. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Spirit of Artistry: A Timeless Journey exhibition showcased key moments in Royal Selangor’s history, tracing its evolution from Malayan Pewter to a globally recognized one. Visitor’s explored vintage brochures, campaigns, and archival materials that shapedthe brand’s identity.

A special gallery paired modern designs with historical influences, while notable artifacts—such as store signage from 1911 and the desk of second-generation founder Yong Peng Kai, where crucial decisions were made—offered a glimpse into the company’s transformation over the decades.
Bringing an interactive element to the celebration, a graffiti wall invited visitors to leave their artistic mark alongside renowned street artists. Meanwhile, the ‘Tag the Kombi’ activity allowed guests to customise a vintage van, adding a personal touch to the experience. Not only that, but the Kombi photo wall transported guests to the 1960s, with a backdrop of the Selangor Pewter factory and a Kombi cutout.
