In efforts to curb the rising cost of living, the Ministry of Domestic Trade & Cost of Living (KPDN) has been rolling out several plans that would provide affordable meals to the public including the ‘Menu Rahmah’ where restaurants and vendors across Malaysia develop extensive menus starting from as low as RM5 each.

Joining this initiative are Pizza Hut and KFC- some of the country’s most popular fast-food franchises operated by QSR Brands (M) Holdings, a multi-billion-ringgit company. Aimed to offer the public fast-food favorites at a low price of only RM5, Pizza Hut is offering 1 personal pizza with up to 5 different flavors to choose from and a bottle of mineral water for its Menu Rahmah. KFC is offering  1 piece of chicken, 1 butterscotch bun, and a bottle of mineral water.

At the launch, YB Datuk Seri Haji Salahuddin bin Ayub, Minister of KPDN  said that KFC and Pizza Hut owned by QSR Brands became the 3,000th company to participate in the Menu Rahmah initiative and that a consortium of industry players would be set up to improve the initiative in the future to accommodate Malaysians’ cost of living.
