On November 24, 2025, Thai breakout star Tontawan Tantivejakul was announced as the recipient of the FPA Asia-Pacific Rising Icon Award, joining Malaysian actor Syafiq Kyle, who was revealed earlier this year as a fellow honoree. Both awards will be presented at the 62nd Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF) Awards Night, scheduled for December 6, 2025, at Auditorium Bandaraya, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.

Widely known as Tu Tontawan, she has quickly become one of Southeast Asia’s most talked-about young actors. Her international profile soared with the runaway success of the Thai family dramedy “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,” one of the region’s biggest box-office phenomena in 2024–2025. Critics and audiences alike praised her heartfelt performance, solidifying her status as a rising force in Asian cinema.

This year, the APFF Rising Icon Award highlights two talents at the forefront of the region’s cinematic wave:

  1. Tontawan Tantivejakul (Thailand) — celebrated for her emotionally resonant screen presence and growing international appeal.

  2. Syafiq Kyle (Malaysia) — recognized for his rising stature in Malaysian cinema, loyal audience following, and expanding screen portfolio across multiple genres.

Presented by the Federation of Motion Picture Producers in Asia-Pacific (FPA), the Rising Icon Award honors emerging actors whose artistic trajectory is shaping the region’s cinematic future.

The 62nd APFF, organized by Lomo Pictures Sdn. Bhd., endorsed by FPA, and supported by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), promises a celebration of regional talent and industry excellence. The awards night on December 6, 2025, at Auditorium Bandaraya, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, will formally recognize these rising stars and their contributions to Asian cinema.
