Getha’s Brand of the Year win marks the ninth time since 2015 that the bedding brand has secured the coveted accolade in the Furniture – Mattresses & Bedding category

Malaysia’s leading bedding brand Getha has been named a winner at the 2024-2025 World Branding Awards, held at the historic Tower of London in the United Kingdom. Recognized in the Furniture – Mattresses & Bedding category, Getha joins an exclusive group of brands honored for their excellence and influence in their respective industries.

This victory marks the ninth time since 2015 that Getha has secured the coveted Brand of the Year accolade in its category, solidifying its status as a global leader in premium bedding solutions. The recognition is especially significant as Getha stands as the sole Malaysian brand in its category to receive the National Tier Award this year.

The National Tier accolade is reserved for brands that have demonstrated exceptional achievements within their home countries, becoming household names synonymous with trust and quality. As part of the rigorous selection process, the World Branding Forum conducted independent market research and assessed over 927 brands from 66 countries, with less than 100 ultimately declared winners.

“This award underscores our success in establishing strong brand recall and top-of-mind awareness among consumers, both in Malaysia and globally,” said Getha’s Executive Director, Yong Mei Tsin (centre) who attended the event alongside Project Manager Kevin Tan (left).

Founded in 1969, Getha has its roots in crafting 100% natural latex bedding products. The brand name “Getha” was thoughtfully chosen to reflect its Malaysian heritage, derived from the Bahasa Malaysia word for latex, “Getah.” This name signifies a brand deeply connected to Malaysia, a tropical country celebrated for its superior rubber and natural latex products. Over the decades, Getha has built a reputation for excellence, exporting to more than 30 countries worldwide and employing over 300 dedicated staff, some of whom have been with the company for over 40 years. Its impressive production includes up to 121,000 mattresses annually, supported by the processing of latex sourced from 120 million rubber trees.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, which took place on Monday, November 25, 2024, Getha’s Executive Director, Yong Mei Tsin, highlighted the significance of the honor. “This award reflects Getha’s commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability in an ever-evolving market. It underscores our success in establishing strong brand recall and top-of-mind awareness among consumers, both in Malaysia and globally,” said Yong, who attended the event alongside Project Manager Kevin Tan.

Getha joins an illustrious roster of international and Malaysian winners celebrated at the World Branding Awards. Notable global brands recognized this year include Spotify, BYD, Heinz, and Yakult, while Malaysian winners include Petronas, Farm Fresh, Mr. DIY, and Munchy’s. Previous winners of this esteemed award include household names like Apple, Coca-Cola, and Nike as well as Malaysian powerhouses such as Maybank, AirAsia, and Tenaga Nasional.

The recognition is especially significant as Getha stands as the sole Malaysian brand in its category to receive the National Tier Award this year.

The World Branding Awards is the flagship program of the World Branding Forum, a non-profit organization based in the UK. The awards’ unique judging process combines brand valuation (30%), public online voting (30%), and consumer market research (40%), making it one of the most comprehensive evaluations of brand strength and influence.

As Getha celebrates this milestone, its journey continues to underscore Malaysia’s capability to deliver premium products that resonate with international markets. By earning the prestigious Brand of the Year award, Getha has once again placed itself—and Malaysia—on the global stage, bringing pride to the nation while showcasing the excellence of locally made products. This achievement places Getha’s commitment to innovation and quality in the spotlight, reinforcing its position as a leader in the global bedding industry.
