Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib has been appointed as the new Finas CEO effective November 1.
Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib has been named as the new chief executive officer of the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) in a statement today. Finas, in its announcement, said the appointment will be effective from tomorrow onwards, for a period of two years until October 31, 2025.
A Computing graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, in the United Kingdom, Azmir’s career began at the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in the Creative Multimedia Division. He was previously the managing director at Base FX.
The position became vacant since his predecessor, Prof. Dr. Md Nasir Ibrahim left Finas after his tenure ended on June 1. The statement, published by BERNAMA, also highlighted, “Based on his extensive expertise and experience in the creative industry, Finas is confident that Azmir Saifuddin is able to shoulder and carry out the responsibility to drive the Malaysian film industry to a higher level.”
