Malaysian actor – Bront Palarae was awarded the Best Leading Male Performance award (Digital category) at the 25th Asian Television Awards (ATA) for his outstanding display of talent in the investigative thriller series, The Bridge. The 43-year-old actor from Kedah plays Detective Megat Jamil in this adaptation of the famous Scandinavian noir.
Bront’s performance and charisma have brought him quite a fan base in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia, which led to the many offers he received to star in foreign movies. Upon learning that he had won the award for Best Leading Male Performance in the Digital category, the humble actor was quick to thank his team for the extraordinary work they have put into making the series successful and for being an inspiration to him. Bront was honored to receive the award and dedicated his achievement to his wife Rozi and daughter Adeena, whom he referred to as his Queen and Princess.

I accept this award on behalf of the whole team, for they have dedicated their time and efforts to perfecting this project. They have been my inspiration that kept motivating me to come to set every day and give my best. I wish to dedicate this special moment to my Queen Rozi and my Princess Adeena, for they have always supported me through my ups and downs,” said Bront Palarae.

At the 25th ATA, Jeryl Lee Pei Ling (a Malaysian talent of On Muse) and Ernie Zakri (a Malaysian talent of Rocket Fuel Entertainment) represented Malaysia with several stunning world-class performances. Apart from that, co-star Rebecca Lim was also nominated for the ‘Best Actress In a Leading Role’ award. Hong Kong actor – Anthony Wong was the winner of the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in ‘The Republic’, whereas Taiwan Actress – Li You-Ru won the Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in ‘The Rootless’.
