Organized by Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings, Inc. (TBS Japan), the “DigiCon6 ASIA Awards” is an annual digital content competition in Asia. This competition, established in 2000, welcomes participation from throughout Asia and regional contests are organized in various Asian regions – China (by CCIF), Hong Kong (by HK Digital Entertainment Association), India (by CGTantra Networks), Indonesia (by PT Aoi Asia Indonesia), Korea (by Korea Creative Content Agency), Singapore (by Singapore Media Academy), Thailand (by Computer Graphic Plus Co. Ltd.), Taiwan (by ACCA 台灣動漫創作協會) and Malaysia (by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation). The winners in each regional contest which would reflect a good quality of work, ideas, and originality, are eligible to further compete for the Grand Prix Awards. Themed, “Asia’s Supreme Short Movie Contest”, hopes to explore and discover new hidden talent from Asia and outstanding entries will be awarded with prizes.
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has been organizing Malaysia’s regional contest, DigiCon6 ASIA Awards – Malaysia for years, with a view to identify and support potential creative talents in Malaysia by promoting and giving recognition to their creative digital content works. MDEC welcomes any creative style of expression or theme. The creative content submission must be digital contents (as defined below) of under 15 minutes. The term ‘Digital Contents’ refers to projects meeting at least one of the following conditions:
1) Computer graphic animation (2D/3D).
2) Live-action videos filmed and edited by digital movie equipment.
3) All 3D rendered films (including stop-motion and clay animation).
All submitted content will be reviewed and judged by DigiCon6 ASIA Awards – Malaysia organizing committee with a panel of industry experts – based on the creativity, expressiveness, design and artistic quality, quality of the picture and the effective use of music and sound effects. “DigiCon6 ASIA Awards” is an excellent platform for Malaysian talents to learn from their counterparts and judges by networking and exchanging with the creative talent from other Asian regions.
This year, the prizes offered by MDEC are:
Malaysia – Gold at RM 5,000 (x 1)
Malaysia – Silver at RM 3,000 (x 2)
Next Generation – RM 1,000
The Malaysia Gold winner will also be invited to participate in the 23rd DigiCon6 Awards Ceremony to be held on 20th November 2021 in Japan (TBC, due to the pandemic).
# The Malaysia Next Generation Award will be presented to an outstanding entrant aged 25 years or below and has a key role in the production of the winning digital content.
