Artsense Holdings announced the acquisition of The Bao Guys, Malaysia’s first and most innovative fast-food bao brand, in a strategic move valued at RM1.2 million. The acquisition will integrate culinary innovation with lifestyle-driven art education under the group’s Artsense Plus initiative.

The deal was spearheaded by serial entrepreneur Nelson Liew, alongside partners Shawn Yap, Jack Goh, Alex Ooi, and key strategic stakeholders. This landmark move marks a significant milestone for both companies, laying the foundation for a business model that redefines the intersection of food, culture, and education.

Founded with a bold spirit and a mission to redefine Asian street food, The Bao Guys has earned iconic status through bold branding, unconventional marketing, and a gourmet take on the humble bao. With a menu inspired by global flavours and pop culture, the brand delivers a playful yet premium fast-food experience built for Gen Z and Millennial consumers.

Under new ownership, The Bao Guys will roll out an aggressive growth plan across three scalable formats: Flagship Lifestyle Outlets, which blend dining, branding, and community engagement; Grab-and-Go Kiosks for high-traffic areas such as malls and campuses; and FMCG Retail Packs for nationwide distribution in supermarkets and convenience stores. With a target of 50 locations in the next phase, the brand is set to become a key player in the Asian fast-casual space locally and regionally.

“This isn’t just growth, it’s alignment, we’re fusing brand equity with ecosystem strategy to create something scalable, experiential, and future-proof,” said Lucas Seneviratne, Co-Founder of The Bao Guys.

Integrating The Bao Guys into Artsense Plus—a platform blending art, entrepreneurship, and lifestyle will empower youth to view creativity not just as expression, but as a mindset. This acquisition signals a broader ambition, to build a cultural ecosystem that merges education, food, design, and experience.
