120 ASEAN FILMS SUBMITTED FOR THE ASEAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL & AWARDS (AIFFA 2023)

Film lovers and cinema fanatics can expect a grandiose return of the highly-anticipated event –  The ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA 2023). More than 120 film submissions were received and will be filtered, and announced for nominations at the much-awaited Opening Night in Kuching Sarawak this 2 August 2023.

Madam Livan Tajang, Festival Director of AIFFA 2023 highlighted that the biennial festival founded in 2013 has been hosted in the capital of Sarawak four times. This year marks its sixth edition which coincides with the celebration of Sarawak’s 60th anniversary.

YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak emphasized how AIFFA serves as a platform that brings together ten nations through the language of films, providing an opportunity for people to experience each other’s stories and realize the similarities among countries.

In addition to the awards ceremony set to be held on 4 August 2023, AIFFA 2023 will host three days of free film screening showcasing the nominated films.  Exhibitions and film talks have also been organized for the 300 delegates and members of the public interested in the film industry.

AIFFA 2023 will host an esteemed panel of judges such as U-Wei bin Haji, Head of Juror from Malaysia; Ihsan Nurullah Kabil, International Juror from Turkey; Viva Westi, ASEAN Juror from Indonesia; Effendee Mazlan, ASEAN Juror from Malaysia and Pham Thi Hong Anh, ASEAN Juror from Vietnam.
