AJL 38 Winner – Amir Johari

Amir Jahari, a versatile singer-songwriter, clinched the top spot at the prestigious Anugerah Juara Lagu 38 (AJL38). The 31-year-old Sarawakian triumphed with his original composition “Hasrat,” winning the Best Song title and the grand prize of RM100,000 at the annual music awards ceremony.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Amir expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from his fans, friends, and family, marking his third appearance at AJL after a decade-long hiatus.

Aisha Retno’s captivating performance of “Sutera” secured the first runner-up position, while Aina Abdul’s soulful rendition of “Jangan Mati Rasa Itu” claimed the second runner-up spot. These entries earned RM50,000 and RM30,000 respectively.

Additionally, Aina Abdul was honored with the RM12,000 Best Vocals award and the RM12,000 Popular Singer award, as voted by fans. Aisha Retno also received the RM12,000 Best Performance award for her mesmerizing presentation in splendid Javanese attire, paying homage to her maternal heritage.

Other notable entries included “Astana” by Ernie Zakri and Omar K, “Bintang” by Hael Husaini, “Santai” by Naqiu, “Inilah Jalannya” by Masdo, “Darah” by Marsha Milan Londoh, “Kalam” by Shiha Zikir, “Kucuma” by Wany Hasrita and Afieq Shazwan, “Waktu” by Ziana Zain and Hasif Upin, and “Selagi Ku Ada” by Khai Bahar and Nabila Razali.

The event, broadcast live from the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on TV3, featured co-hosts Sherry Alhadad and Alif Satar, along with Fiza Saad and Fizi Ali hosting the red carpet segment. Themed “Muzikaverse,” the show also showcased performances by renowned artists such as Shila Amzah, Vanessa Reynauld, Ella, Datuk Zainalabidin, and Dayang Nurfaizah.

Since its establishment in 1986, AJL has celebrated outstanding songs, composers, lyricists, and vocalists, making it a cornerstone of Malaysia’s music industry.
