Hari Sukan Negara Kuala Lumpur (HSNKL) has officially announced its inaugural run at Dataran Merdeka for 2023. Alongside fellow Malaysians, avid runners will also be competing with international running enthusiasts who will be joined together in the spirit of fun and fitness on 8 October 2023. As the main sponsor, SHARP along with the event organizer, Pure Events gained full support from Jabatan Belia dan Suka Wilayah Kuala Lumpur, DBKL – CATS: Cultural Arts Tourism and Sports, Persatuan Olahraga Wilayah KL, PDRM, and MKN to bring this event come alive.
The main mission of Hari Sukan Negara is focused on igniting and strengthening the motivation to maintain health and fitness among fellow Malaysians and to create a more loving approach towards sports and hopefully become a sports-conscious nation. The run, consisting 5km or 3km fun runs, is designed for beginners, families, children as well as people with disabilities or those who may be wheelchair-bound.
For 2023, HSNKL has been freshly branded as SHARP Hari Sukan Negara Kuala Lumpur (SHARP HSNKL) as it represents the initiative by renowned consumer electronics brand: Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (SEM) in conjunction with its 111th year anniversary. SHARP has been actively advocating a healthy lifestyle aimed at improving people’s health and quality of life. By providing high-quality home appliances that promote clean and comfortable living, SHARP encourages its consumers to spend more time outdoors and to live a healthy lifestyle.
SHARP HSNKL will be the first large-scale public outdoor event sponsored by SHARP, to kickstart the company’s effort in helping people to adopt active lifestyles. SHARP also hopes to cooperate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) to advocate, promote, and cultivate a healthier lifestyle by bringing this running event to various areas across Malaysia.
During the run, it offers four notable flag-off points – a 21km Half Marathon, a 10km Run, and 3km Fun Runs to gather runners from all walks of life. The main motto is to spread the spirit of running especially towards the younger generation with a fun and exciting event. It is best for those who like to be challenged or inspired to beat their personal bests.
As inclusive as any event can be, the SHARP HSNKL is for anyone and everyone, from seasoned runners to joggers, to the underprivileged, and OKU, SHARP HSNKL welcomes everyone to participate as good health has no specifications. Malaysians are encouraged to come together and unite for peace, harmony, and fun along with international runners due to their shared passion for a healthier lifestyle.
The specialty of this run that differs from others is that the 21km marathon will pass through several well-known landmarks in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The runners get to experience scenic views of the KL Skyline as they make their way along Bukit Tunku, the Botanical Gardens, the National Mosque, and several more. All races will end up at Dataran Merdeka as a symbol of Malaysian heritage and where Malaysians once gathered for their independence which is bigger by comparison but a similar feeling after completing a marathon.
In addition, the public attending Dataran Merdeka will also be in for a treat as there will be health, fitness, and sports bazaars, food trucks, and much more. SHARP’s activation booth will also be offering exciting freebies and unmatched deals as well.
SHARP HSNKL offers prizes for various categories such as Open, Veteran, and Malaysian Fastest categories for both men and women that are worth up to RM50,000.
Alongside the sponsors who have joined, several companies have come on board as official partners to join the SHARP HSNKL 2023. Sharp Electronics Malaysia is the Main title sponsor and the official apparel for the event is PUREFIIT. All registered participants can expect fun-themed running t-shirts courtesy of PureFIIT, a special cash voucher from Decathlon, a goodie bag worth RM150, and a chance to join the lucky draw and win amazing prizes.
Registration for SHARP HSNKL ends on 25 September 2023. Registration may close sooner if the maximum capacity is reached before the closing date.
