The organizers of the Malaysia Fashion, Modeling and Pageant Awards (MFMPA) 2022 – Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK) unveiled its plans to spearhead the fashion industry within the ASEAN region as the new year approaches. Come 2023, MFMPA will be deploying officers to neighboring countries to validate fashion enthusiasts from all walks of life and provide ample opportunities for collaborations.
At a pre-Christmas and New Year celebration event held at Park Royal Collection Kuala Lumpur, the founder of MMK Dr. Jason Hee was greeted with a standing ovation upon announcing his intentions to take the lead in being the backbone of the fashion industry for the ASEAN region. He shared that his intention is to connect all the industry players within the region so that they may prosper far beyond expectations.
Moving forward as MMK penetrates the ASEAN region, sustainable fashion and green initiatives will be prioritized together with the preservation and presentation of culture. Being the host, Malaysia’s fashion gurus will be given the opportunity to showcase its diverse selection of traditional wear to the world. In doing so, this initiative drives unity amongst the neighboring countries while also showing the world how a multiethnic country can unite despite the differences.
“I believe that there is more to fashion than meets the eye. It has the power to unite people of various backgrounds, and it allows people to explore unique cultures from all across the world. As Malaysians, we are made of a multitude of races and religions, yet we all live harmoniously with deep appreciation and respect; hence, I think there is none better to host the event in Southeast Asia than us,” said Dr. Jason Hee.
The upcoming MFMPA 2022 will take place on 16 January 2023 at Park Royal Collection Kuala Lumpur, where local industry players are verified by a panel of 11 prominent judges consisting of some of the biggest names in the industry who will be assessing the awardees base on innovation, integrity, objectivity, impartiality, and transparency. “We want to bring Malaysia forward as a fashion industry leader in the ASEAN region in 2023 as it is a much-needed initiative, especially after the pandemic. We have set out a roadmap with strategies and plans for tackling the ASEAN market, which will be revealed in the near future. First and foremost for 2023, we will be establishing our presence in the neighboring countries and familiarizing ourselves with deserving talents and acquainting them to potential partners,” Dr. Jason Hee concluded.
MFMPA is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture, (MOTAC), Finas, Selangor State Government, Corporate Companies, SMEs, NGOs, and Associations. For more information, kindly follow Malaysia Fashion, Modeling & Pageant Awards on Facebook.
