Producer, crews, and actors for GOLD
Astro Shaw continues to be dedicated to presenting high-quality films that bring captivating Malaysian stories to the world. In its latest project, Astro Shaw, in collaboration with Act 2 Pictures, Clover Films, and One Cool Entertainment, introduces “Gold,” inspired by the true story of Cheah Liek Hou, the world’s first Paralympic badminton gold medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. “Gold” will be released in cinemas nationwide starting July 11.
The film, directed by box office hitmaker Adrian Teh, known for “PASKAL The Movie” and “Malbatt: Misi Bakara,” embodies themes of determination, thrilling sports action, and the importance of family and community harmony. Adrian, known for his films that pay tribute to national heroes, showcases his versatility by delving into a sports narrative.

Beyond its impressive cinematography, Gold’s strength lies in its impactful action scenes, both emotionally and in terms of the message conveyed. Each scene is well executed by renowned local actors such as Farid Kamil as Rashid Sidek, Jack Tan who shone in Taiwan with the film Abang Adik as Cheah Liek Hou, Wan Raja as Misbun Sidek, Fabian Loo as Guan Ting, 1990s popular singer Freddie Ng, and many more talented actors.
Executive Producer of Gold and Head of Astro Shaw, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, said, “Following the success of the action franchise Polis Evo, Astro Shaw proudly presents an emotional action sports film inspired by an individual who has made the nation proud on the global stage. The story behind Cheah Liek Hou’s journey to achieve global recognition is very compelling to share. Thank you to our prominent director, Adrian Teh for bringing this idea to us. We hope Gold can touch the hearts of the audience and be seen as a film for all Malaysians.”

Similar to PASKAL The Movie and MALBATT: Misi Bakara, Gold incorporates elements designed to evoke a deep sense of Malaysian pride. We hope that this film will inspire everyone, especially the athletes, motivating them to continue striving and bring glory to the nation.”
The film’s scenes are enhanced by captivating cinematography, high-quality production design, and impactful background music. The main theme song, “Kita Pasti Boleh,” performed by Kaka Azraff, Daniel Sher, and Saint T.F.C, and composed by Daniel Sher, is an upbeat track meant to instill a strong sense of patriotism in the audience.
