On, 17 December 2021, Business Media International, the owner of SME Magazine, HR Asia, Capital Asia, Energy Asia, Logistics Asia, TruthTV, and CXP Asia had just joined forces with Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (SAMENTA) to organize the 2021 SME100 Awards. During the award ceremony, a total of 126 Malaysian SMEs emerged as winners among the 700 Malaysian companies that were in the selection of becoming the SME100 Fast Moving Companies of 2021.

For business owners, the SME100 Awards serve as a pinnacle of trust and a standard of dependability as they are the beacon of attention on all platforms across all industries, whether it is for business initiatives or recruiting investors and clients for both international and local markets. Malaysia, together with Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia, is one of four ASEAN member countries to host the SME100 Awards.

Despite the year 2021 being a roller coaster for many SMEs where numerous lockdowns and MCO were implemented due to the pandemic, these SMEs made a strong recovery and fought against the odds. Other than the main SME100 Awards, iconic SME100 CTOS Credit Excellence Award, SME100 Affin SME Icon Award, BMI VISA Sustainable Brand Awards, and BMI Affingem Women Entrepreneur Awards were also given to deserving SMEs.

As SME100 continues to proceed with the most rigorous evaluations for the nominees, five-step process was introduced where both qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as a 100 percent interview requirement with a focus on growth (turnover, profit, and market share) and resilience (best practices, sustainability, and vision), will be evaluated for the award.
