Sunway Malls unveiled its highly anticipated Chinese New Year campaign, The Golden Era of Fortune, with a spectacular launch event that beautifully combined heritage and contemporary creativity. Held within a breathtaking setting inspired by the elegance of traditional Chinese paintings, the launch celebrated abundance, artistic innovation, and cultural pride.
The festivities kicked off at Sunway Velocity Mall’s Main Atrium, which had been transformed into a vibrant display of cherry blossoms, bustling trade scenes, and modern art influenced by traditional calligraphy. This year’s theme highlighted the opulence of a prosperous era while embracing the dynamic energy of today’s marketplace and the universal pursuit of success.
Mr. HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sunway Malls, in his speech, highlighted, “This year’s celebration reflects our vision of building connections between the past and the present. Let’s embrace the past, celebrate the present, and welcome a future full of brightness, abundance, and joy.”
Lou Sang to end the opening ceremony wishing for prosperity, health, and success
Together with the Central Managers of Sunway Malls, Mr. HC Chan lit lanterns crafted from Fortuitous Angpows. These lanterns were placed along a floral arrangement symbolizing each Sunway Mall, with their illumination representing hope and a bright future.
This Lunar New Year, Sunway Malls celebrates unity and prosperity, creating moments of nostalgia and rewarding experiences. The event’s visually striking elements, which seamlessly merge cultural traditions with modern designs, set the tone for a meaningful and inspiring celebration. Additionally, Sunway Velocity Mall collaborated with students from the Malaysian Institute of Art to showcase 12 avant-garde Chinese New Year fashion pieces. These designs incorporated traditional elements such as red and gold, fans, and calligraphy, reimagined with bold modern styles to celebrate the harmony of heritage and innovation.
Sunway Velocity Main Atrium transformed into a vibrant display of cherry blossoms, bustling trade scenes, and modern art influenced by traditional calligraphy.
A standout feature of the campaign was the photo booth backdrop, Gadis Oriental, created entirely from recycled angpows. This intricate design depicted a woman in traditional attire, blending cultural heritage with eco-conscious values and highlighting the importance of sustainability.
The event also featured a lively lion dance performance, symbolizing strength and good fortune, as well as a captivating instrumental set by The Rock Stars Production that blended traditional melodies with contemporary arrangements. ELLE & VOIR, tenants from Sunway Velocity Mall, unveiled a Chinese New Year fashion collection that fused intricate heritage-inspired motifs with modern silhouettes, embodying the theme of old meets new.
The celebration concluded with a traditional Lou Sang session, where guests enthusiastically tossed ingredients high into the air, echoing wishes for prosperity, health, and success.
