‘Kampung Latah Kena Kuarantin’

The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) today congratulated the film ‘Kampung Latah Kena Kuarantin’ that was produced by Megapine (M) Sdn. Bhd. on its astounding successes that generated over RM 1 million through Astro First since 9 September 2021.

The film was directed by Azizi Adnan, produced by Hazil Izham, and was published with the help of Government funding through FINAS under the TV/OTT Program Fund in collaboration with Astro. ‘Kampung Latah Kena Kuarantin’ is the first local film that highlights the ‘latah’ syndrome (a culture-specific startle syndrome).

It showcases the stories behind the lives of people staying in Kampung Latah Permai,  a unique village that has become a huge attraction to both local and foreign tourists because of the high population of people with such syndrome.

The success of the Kampung Latah Kena Quarantine film is a benchmark for films produced under the TV/OTT Program Fund initiative and FINAS hopes that this strategic initiative and collaboration with Astro will continue to open up opportunities for publishers to produce highly creative films and generate revenue through copyright ownership.

The ‘Kampung Latah Kena Kuarantin’ comedy film can now be screened from the comfort of your own homes via Astro First. Visit channel 480 to subscribe or stream it through the Astro Go and On-Demand platforms.
