The International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX) 2023 returned on 26 July for its 22nd edition at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Spanning over 3 days, this year’s event was larger than before, and it was targeted to promote innovative future-forward technology and sustainable construction materials to propel the industry toward creating a greener environment, contributing to the efforts in reducing the nation’s carbon footprints.

This year, ARCHIDEX received large responses from both local and international exhibitors showcasing the advancements in building materials, construction technology, interior and sustainable solutions. The exhibition occupied 10 halls including 1,400 exhibition stands with 600 exhibitors from 15 countries. The entire journey of ARCHIDEX was created for architectural innovation. Industry players, professionals, and enthusiasts from around the world were able to witness firsthand the cutting-edge technologies on display that would shape the future of architecture and design.

Nga Kor Ming, the Minister of Local Government Development congratulated the joint organizers of ARCHIDEX, Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), and C.I.S Network (C.I.S) for establishing Asia’s leading and most established exhibition for architecture, interior design, and building industry, together with the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival 2023 (KLAF).” Nga remarked, “ARCHIDEX sets an example of initiatives that benefit industries that extend beyond the architecture, interior design, and building industries. ARCHIDEX has empowered countless small and medium-sized businesses to grow over the years with billions of transactions and businesses conducted.”

Dato’ Vincent Lim, President of C.I.S highlighted, “ARCHIDEX has always been geared towards evolving the architectural and building community. Through the ‘FUTURE’ theme, Sustainability, Future Architecture, and Wellbeing will stand as the core pillars, to ensure we pave the way for a better world for the present and future generations. To prepare for this new future, we must adapt and embrace change. Sustainability is no longer a buzzword. Smart living is the place to be, and ARCHIDEX will serve as the platform to showcase and foster such transformative ideas in years to come.”

ARCHIDEX acts as a platform that works hand in hand with the government, creating initiatives that are beneficial to industries extending beyond architecture, interior design, and the building industry. It unites professionals from architecture with the theme of ‘FUTURE’ while applying the three key pillars of sustainability, future architecture, and well-being. Emerging trends and technological advancements were on display at the exhibition where the exhibitors showcased their innovations, designs, and breakthroughs, and an estimated 36,000 visitors who are the best in the field to create future collaborations with.

The Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) also celebrated its 100th anniversary while hosting the “Gallery in an Exhibition” featuring all that is glass. PAM provides a stage for the industry to grow, and advance through the industry of architecture while exploring new possibilities to further shape architecture.

DATUM, an international design conference that serves as a platform for showcasing amazing works of architecture worldwide, presents an avenue for networking and collaborations among local and international industry players. DATUM’s conferences typically featured more than 30 esteemed guests from Malaysia and overseas as speakers for the attendees to experience and absorb valuable knowledge and learn from these professional experts. In addition, an ARCHIDEX Star Awards ceremony was held to recognize architectural excellence nominated by exhibitors along with ARCHITALENT, a program designed to help architectural firms discover bright talents while cultivating and inspiring students who aim to engage and shape people’s perspectives on architecture.
